From Overland Series to our all-new SPEQ Series, explore MagnaFlow's latest performance exhaust systems designed for the 2024 Toyota Tacoma. Aftermarket cat-back exhaust upgrades are a relatively simple way to increase your vehicle’s power. Typically these upgrades involve installing wider piping with fewer sharp or sudden bends as a way to reduce backpressure. Backpressure is pressure opposing the desired flow of exhaust gasses. The more you are able to reduce backpressure, the more efficient the system will be, and ultimately your horsepower will increase. Cat-back exhaust refers to any part of the exhaust system that’s behind the catalytic converter.

And a lot of people think that gearheads mess with it just to make our cars sound louder. Another problem is that the gaskets and seals can degrade over time, resulting in leaks. These leaks can usually be fixed by replacing the relevant seals and gaskets.

Less restrictive catalytic converters paired with a cat-back exhaust system will offer high performance and power. Though, the level of horsepower gained is not constant across all cat-back systems. It depends on the quality and performance of the catalytic converters. Because of the better flow of exhausts resulting from the mandrel-bent tubing and the larger diameter piping, cat-back exhaust systems manage to offer better performance. IE offers catback, downpipe, and midpipes upgrades to replace individual sections of your exhaust. Installing variations of these parts allows you to dial in your exhaust volume to your preference, from sporty to aggressive.

You also need to be careful when tightening the bolts on the cat back. Over-tightening can damage the system, so just make sure they're tight enough to hold everything in place. It's important to make sure that the cat back is properly aligned with the exhaust pipe. If it's not, you could end up with an inefficient or even dangerous exhaust system. Competitors often rely on generic silencers or gimmicks that claim to cut out drone without any real knowledge or development involved.

It typically includes a rear pipe, resonator, and muffler that all attach after the last catalytic converter. The turbo-back system is the most complete system you can buy. It replaces all of the components that the previous two systems that we’ve talked about and also upgrades the downpipe. The downpipe is the first piece of exhaust piping that comes after the turbocharger and it also houses the catalytic converters on all L15 powered 1.5T Civics and Integras. From a sound and performance perspective, you’re going to get the most of both compared to the other two versions mentioned before.

The cat back system’s pipes have a larger diameter than a standard set. So, your vehicle will get to perform better at a fraction of the work it outputs. An&nbsp
